What is a CCAC Financial Grant? A monetary grant to an a) individual visual, performing, or literary artist b) small artistic organization, with the intent of supporting the artist’s creative endeavor and strengthening the communication between the artist and the community.

Who is eligible to apply? a) The developing artist who desires to enhance his/her creative process and product b) The small arts organization with an annual budget of less than $25,000 c) Applicants must be residents of Iron County d) The grant may not be used for any project that will receive academic credits e) The applicant does not need to have 501c3 non-profit status

What types of cultural activity are eligible for this financial support? Projects may include but are not limited to: a) Visual Art: painting, sculpture, film, photography, graphic arts, fabric art b) Performance Art: vocal, instrumental, dramatic, dance, composition c) Literary Art: fiction, non-fiction, poetry, playwriting, journalism

How may the funds be used? Funds granted by Cedar City Arts Council may be used to purchase supplies or equipment, provide transportation to educational or training sessions, rent displays or performance venues, purchase promotional advertising, or other uses as need is demonstrated.

What is the amount of each grant? The Cedar City Arts Council is presently awarding grants of up to $500.

When are the grants awarded? There are two application periods per calendar year. Recipients may apply more than once, but not consecutively. The unfunded applicant is encouraged to re-apply. Questions and Answers regarding the Cedar City Arts Council Artist’s Grant and Application

What is the application deadline? The application deadlines for the Cedar City Arts Council Artist’s Grant are January 31st and July 31st. Notification to grant recipients will occur by February 15th and August 15th. The artists grant project must be reported on within six months.

How are applications evaluated? Selected members of the Cedar City Arts Council will review each Artist’s Grant application for the following items:

a) Perceived ability to complete proposed project in the given time frame

b) Impact of requested funds on proposed project

c) Impact on the Iron County community of completed project

d) Artistic quality of applicants work

What is the application procedure?

1) Complete the accompanying application forms including Applicant Information, Project Description and Proposed Budget.

2) Include a $10.00 application fee, which for non-members will also purchase a one-year membership in the Cedar City Arts Council.

3) Submit completed application to Cedar City Arts Council by deadline (either January 31st or July 31st). See application form for address.

What criteria will be used to determine “Completion of project”? The recipient will be asked to submit a short report on the use and benefits accruing from the grant. When possible, the results of the grant should be made visible to the community (i.e. an exhibit, a performance, an educational application, etc.)
