Call for Artists: 2015 Cedar City Art Walk

In the summer of 2014, board members of the Cedar City Arts Council initiated the Cedar City Art Walk: a program showcasing partnerships between local businesses, galleries, and artists. The program was a success, and included over 50 participating local and regional artists, 16 businesses and galleries, and up to 250 visitors during the Final Friday Gallery Strolls in the downtown area of Cedar City.

cedar+city+downtown

Planning for the 2015 Art Walk is underway, and artists are invited to apply for consideration to be a featured artist. There is no charge for participation. Participating businesses and galleries will each host one selected artist who will exhibit artwork in a small space within the retail venue. This exhibition will stay in place for three summer months (June, July, and August) when tourist traffic is at its peak in Cedar City.

Interested artists will be juried for work that is of high quality and is appropriate for storefront display. The Arts Council board will print and circulate Art Walk maps and posters, and provide extensive media coverage.

The Final Friday Art Walk Gallery Strolls will take place in downtown Cedar City on Friday, June 26, July 31, and August 28, from 5:00PM – 8:00PM. The artist will be present during these events, demonstrating his/her art form for the public. Artists selected for this program will be matched with a business and a contract will be signed between the two parties that outline the opportunities and restrictions provided through the partnership.

Artists must submit 10 images (jpeg or pdf format) showing a consistent body of work; a corresponding list that includes the title, medium, size, and price of each artwork; and an artist statement (no more than 200 words) that addresses the body of work submitted. Include artist contact information: name, phone number, e-mail, and website (if available).

Artists must submit all required images, documents, and information digitally to artwalkscedarcity@gmail.com by 5:00PM on Friday, April 3, 2014.

This Cedar City Arts Council strives to promote the arts through active participation. For more information on the Art Walk please contact Art Walk Directors Chelsea Kauffman or Delaney Patterson at the artwalkscedarcity@gmail.com.
